For the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund EMP Initiative, EMP provided a one-time, one-year grant to Dillard University and Xavier University to bring students back to the schools following Hurricane Katrina.
In 2008, both institutions received a one-year implementation grant to participate in EMP coupled with substantial technical assistance to help grow and stabilize their enrollments post-Katrina. In addition, EMP assisted them in constructing the framework for enrollment recovery programs. An “Enrollment Preparation, Response Recovery Plan” was developed, which will be shared with the broader higher education community, particularly as it relates to the implementation of disaster or crisis management recovery initiatives.
