Attracting, Developing and Retaining Talented African American Administrators
As more African American educators seek leadership positions at HBCUs, it is imperative to develop programs that will assist and prepare them for the range of responsibilities of leading day-to-day operations at their institutions.
The ELGP was launched in 2007 with funding from the American Express Foundation. It is designed to attract, develop and retain talented African American administrators, address the unmet leadership and professional needs of all UNCF institution administrators and enhance board governance.
The program creates professional development opportunities that focus on key managerial skills:
- Presidential leadership
- Effective trusteeship
- Succession planning
- Financial management
- Strategic planning
